No overtaking by heavy vehicles

What does the “No overtaking by heavy vehicles” sign mean?

The “No overtaking by heavy vehicles” sign belongs to the “Prohibition” family of the French highway code. Prohibitory signs are round with a red border. They forbid a manoeuvre or behaviour — excess speed, overtaking, parking, access — until the restriction is lifted.
