- The licence, registration certificate and MOT test must be available for presentation during a check.
- The fine for failing to present the licence or registration certificate is 135 euros (11 euros if presented within 5 days).
- Third-party liability insurance is the compulsory minimum; it only covers damage caused to others.
- Since April 2024, the insurance sticker is no longer required on the windscreen.
- The MOT test: first at 4 years, then every 2 years.
- Crit'Air sticker compulsory in certain cities (68-euro fine if missing).
- Vest and triangle compulsory in the vehicle. Triangle: 30 m before, visible at 100 m. Never on motorways.
- The breathalyser is no longer compulsory since 2020 but remains recommended.
