  • Three areas of preparation: route, vehicle, driver.
  • Check Bison Fute and the weather. Programme the sat-nav whilst stationary before departure.
  • Vehicle checks: tyres, levels, lights, wipers, triangle, vest, tools.
  • Loading: heavy items low down, nothing on the rear shelf, adjust lights if loaded.
  • Break every 2 hours. 17 h awake = 0.5 g/l alcohol.
  • Fatigue causes 1 in 5 fatal accidents. Only solution: stop and sleep.
  • Alcohol, drugs and certain medicines prohibited before and during the journey.
  • Most accidents occur near home, not on long journeys.
