- Three areas of preparation: route, vehicle, driver.
- Check Bison Fute and the weather. Programme the sat-nav whilst stationary before departure.
- Vehicle checks: tyres, levels, lights, wipers, triangle, vest, tools.
- Loading: heavy items low down, nothing on the rear shelf, adjust lights if loaded.
- Break every 2 hours. 17 h awake = 0.5 g/l alcohol.
- Fatigue causes 1 in 5 fatal accidents. Only solution: stop and sleep.
- Alcohol, drugs and certain medicines prohibited before and during the journey.
- Most accidents occur near home, not on long journeys.
