- The zones of uncertainty for pedestrians and cyclists are large: keep your distances.
- A stationary bus or lorry can hide pedestrians. Always slow down.
- Do not enter a congested junction if you cannot cross it.
- A bend is negotiated in 3 stages: detect, adjust speed, control the course.
- Uphill, shift down for more power. Downhill, shift down for engine braking.
- Never drive in neutral on a descent: risk of losing control.
- Escape ramps (red and white chequerboard) are reserved for vehicles whose brakes have failed.
- Narrow roads without a centre line do not mean one-way: stay vigilant.
