- Abnormal fumes, unusual noises, excess consumption or trajectory drift: consult a mechanic.
- Breakdown: hazard lights, vest, triangle at 30 m (except on the motorway).
- The space-saver limits speed to 80 km/h. A spare wheel is not compulsory but strongly recommended.
- Jump leads: connect + (red) first, then - (black).
- First MOT within 6 months before the vehicle turns 4, then every 2 years.
- Result A = pass, S = retest within 2 months, R = driving prohibited from the next day.
- Without a valid MOT: 135 euro fine, possible immobilisation, registration document retained.
- The test measures CO (carbon monoxide), not CO2.
