Recap
- A poorly maintained vehicle can use up to 25% more fuel.
- Level checks: on a flat surface, engine cold (except washer fluid).
- Oil, coolant, brake fluid, washer fluid: the 4 levels to monitor under the bonnet.
- Do not top up brake fluid yourself: consult a mechanic.
- Tyre tread: minimum 1.6 mm. TWI wear indicator to check regularly.
- Tyre pressure: once a month, with cold tyres. Add 0.3 bar if tyres are warm.
- Under-inflation increases consumption, braking distance and the risk of a blowout.
- Oil change roughly every 10,000 km. Filters and spark plugs to replace regularly.
